Traditionally used to support digestion and overall gastric function, Trikatu is made from Long Pepper, Black Pepper and Ginger. Trikatu means “three peppers” or “three pungents,” referring to the strong and bitter taste of these herbs. These three herbs work together to stimulate what Ayurveda refers to as agni, or “digestive fire.” This allows for easier digestion in the stomach while promoting proper bile flow. Trikatu is gentle on the body and works efficiently to help the digestive tract absorb nutrients and remove wastes. I recommend taking Trikatu at least 15 minutes before your meal, especially if you plan on a hearty meal containing foods that may be difficult to digest.
